The Cinematheque and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver are pleased to welcome Bettina Oberli, one of Switzerland’s leading directors, for this special one-night event.
Bettina Oberli will be in attendance to introduce the film and will participate in an audience Q&A following the screening.
The film: My Wonderful Wanda
Titular wunder Wanda is a Polish single mom of two, working at a lakeside villa in Switzerland as a live-in caregiver for Josef, an aging businessman who has suffered a stroke. She feeds him, bathes him, and, on the sly, sleeps with him for extra cash. When Wanda gets pregnant, a bombshell to all, the already fraught dynamics between Josef, his wife, and their failure-to-launch children turn frantic.
