The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus is the official competition festival for short films and is organised by the Ministry of Education & Culture of Cyprus and the Rialto Theatre in Limassol.
A selection of fiction, documentary, experimental and animation short films directed by Cypriot and international filmmakers will be screened between 13 and 19 October.
On Sunday, 14 October 2018, 18h - 22h at Meet the Programmers, a discussion panel, featuring short film screenings, you will have the opportunity to interact with directors from acclaimed international short film festivals. This parallel event features two Swiss filmakers:

At this year's festival, Switzerland is respresented with the documentary film,
Ins Holz / In the woods (13 min.) directed by Corina Schwingruber Ilić and Thomas Horat.

Synopsis:
Snow, sweat, testosterone and the sound of chainsaws. Every four years, over a period of three months in winter, wood is being cut in a steep mountain high above Lake Ägeri and prepared for log rafting. Neither economic change nor technology has been able to replace this traditional and sustainable craft in Switzerland.
Some information about the directors:
Corina Schwingruber Ilić was born in Werthenstein (LU) in 1981. She studied at the University of Design & Art in Basel, majoring in Fine Arts/New Media where she also took part in an exchange programme with the fine art academy in Belgrade. From 2006-2009 she completed her studies at the Lucerne University of Art & Design, majoring in Video. She works as a filmmaker in directing, camera, editing, music videos and teaches filmmaking at colleges and universities. Her last short documentary Baggern - Tons of Passion was nominated for the national Swiss Movie Award and won several festival awards all around the world.
Thomas Horat was born in Schwyz in 1964. He is a self-taught filmmaker who after a few practical trainings on documentaries, completed his first own feature documentary project Wätterschmöcker (2003), which has been successfully shown in Swiss and Austrian cinemas. The second full feature Alpsummer succeeded also in cinemas in Switzerland and has won several awards in the USA. His last short documentary Ins Holz was nominated for the national Swiss Movie Award.
