On 29.04.2020 , the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA)  together with the Embassy of Switzerland in Accra  successfully concluded an operation to return Swiss citizens and residents of Switzerland stranded in Ghana, back home. This is so far the last of 35 humanitarian repatriation flights organized by the Swiss government.

Thanks to the biggest repatriation in Swiss history, a total of 7’200 stranded compatriots and people of other nationality could be brought back to Switzerland and to Europe.

From Ghana, 40 persons were repatriated comprising: 29 Swiss, 10 foreigners resident in Switzerland and one EU citizen in need. With the same flight executed by Heveltic Airlines, some 50 more tourists from Ivory Coast and Bukina Faso were repatriated.
