On February 8, 2017, the delivery of a new ship, waving the Swiss flag – MV Lausanne - was celebrated with national anthems and the raising of the flags at Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU) Shipyard Kure in Hiroshima.  This naming ceremony was attended by Mr. Eric André, CEO of Suisse-Atlantique, and Mr. Jakob Fehr, Consul of the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan and other guests.

The delivery of this new vessel coincides with the 75th anniversary of the shipping company, Suisse-Atlantique, which operates in the name and for the account of Oceana Shipping AG, with headquarters in Renens/Lausanne.

MV Lausanne is the second ship built by Japan Marine United Corporation for Suisse-Atlantique this year. The first one, MV St-Cergue, was already delivered in January 2017.

MV Lausanne is 195 meters long, 32 meters wide with deadweight of 60,696 metric tons. The new ship will serve as bulk carrier, and it will carry grain, coal, iron ore and other merchandise.  The captain of the new ship, Mr. Sergiy Ryabchenko, will command a team of 21 sailors.  MV Lausanne will first sail to Canada in order to load grain to be carried to Bangladesh.
