The Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.

This year, the Commendations will be awarded to 177 individuals and 41 groups (22 individuals and 5 groups reside in Japan, and 155 individuals and 36 groups reside overseas). Among them, the Kansai Association Switzerland-Japan is recognized for its successful promotion of mutual understanding between Switzerland and Japan.

The recipients will be presented with an award certificate. The ceremony, which normally takes place each year, will not be held this year, due to the current pandemic situation.

On the occasion of the announcement, the Secretariat of the Association expressed its gratitude to the Embassy and the Honorary Consulate General for the cooperation and support extended to them ever since the establishment of the Association. The Secretariat also assured that the Association will continue to make its utmost efforts to strengthen exchanges between Japan and Switzerland and to promote mutual understanding and friendship.

Ambassador Dr. Andreas Baum congratulates wholeheartedly the Kansai Association Switzerland-Japan for this prestigious and well-deserved award.  The entire team at the Embassy looks forward to further developing its cooperation with the Association for many years to come.
