Swiss Ambassador commemorates the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBiT)

May 17 is dedicated to the international day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. On this occasion, the Swiss Ambassador joined other ambassadors in Nur-Sultan in signing a joint statement which has also been released as a short video message.

As the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and in rights. In their statement, the ambassadors express their support to the LGBTI community, national human rights organizations, families, the Government of Kazakhstan and its institutions, private enterprise, and all other interested parties in their efforts to ensure non-discrimination protection applies to all people. 

In line with the IDAHOBiT theme of this year, “Breaking the Silence”, the joint statement was also delivered in video format to raise awareness and in order to show support for the LGBTI community.
