The health situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic has been deteriorating in India for several days. More than 17 million people in India are infected with COVID-19, with more than 300,000 new cases every day. Switzerland responded quickly with an offer of support to the Indian government. The Indian government officially accepted the offer on Wednesday.
Switzerland's Humanitarian Aid, which is part of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), has allocated an amount of one million Swiss francs to help the Indian people. The money will be used to transport oxygen concentrators and ventilators to the Indian capital, New Delhi. New Delhi has been particularly hard hit by the current crisis. This equipment will be distributed with the support of the Indian Red Cross, which is responsible for coordinating international aid.
