SIAG is one of the working groups under the Social Cluster of the International Development Partner Group (IDPG) in Nepal. Founded in 2005, SIAG aims to provide strategic advice and support on GESI to development partners and the government of Nepal in two ways: (a) as a centre of competence and a conduit of learning, and (b) as a coordination mechanism for development partners in social inclusion. The SIAG has been co-chaired by the Embassy of Switzerland and the UN Resident Coordinator's Office since 2012. Multilateral agencies, embassies, development agencies, and Association of the International NGOs, including a management consulting firm are the members of SIAG.
The main purpose of this assignment is to identify how the government, development partners and international NGOs are applying GESI mainstreaming in Nepal. The specific objectives are:
- review critically ways the government, development partners and international NGOs are conceptualizing and using the GESI approach in Nepal,
- analyse institutional gaps for effective GESI mainstreaming,
- define a GESI framework that can be mainstreamed in the government of Nepal and development organisations, and
- develop an operational guideline (a road map) for effective GESI mainstreaming.
The national consultant will be strategically backstopped by an international GESI expert in the methodology design and implementation of this assignment. At the operational level, the consultant will be working in coordination with the SIAG Secretariat (the Embassy of Switzerland) and the SIAG Executive Committee. The assignment is expected to start in March and be completed by May 2016. The assignment consists of 30 working days spreading over this time period.
Therefore, the national consultant to be selected as the GESI Expert for the aforementioned task should have worked on GESI issues in Nepal, have strong experience in review and analysis of GESI issues at policy, development programme, and organisational level and must be familiar with the government and development partners in Nepal.

Nepali GESI experts interested in this assignment shall submit a 5 page proposal indicating his/her qualifications for this assignment (1 page), elaboration of his/her experiences in GESI analysis and publications (2 page), proposed methodology and organisation of tasks to be applied for the assignment (2 page), and as annexes the consultancy fee per day and an updated CV to the following address latest by 1700 hrs Friday, 29th January 2016 clearly marked in the subject as "Proposal for the SIAG GESI Brickwork".
