NASDP will support farming households, especially female-headed households and farmers from disadvantaged groups to increase farm income, food security and resilience. The programme will also strengthen agricultural services and strengthen the Research, Extension and Education triangle, in line with the priorities set by the Nepal Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS), to generate farmer’s need responsive technologies. Similarly, NAMDP will support rural smallholders, especially disadvantaged groups and women-headed households, to improve their livelihoods through participation in commercial agriculture. Both programmes will reach 30,000 households each. 

On the other hand, ENSSURE aims to help Nepalese workers particularly from disadvantaged groups to benefit from continuous employment and an improved standard of living. It is expected to benefit 60’000 persons. The project will introduce company-based trainings such as apprenticeships and further training of already employed workers. The strong involvement of the private sector in designing courses will ensure the relevance of such trainings. 

Agreements to this effect were signed and exchanged between H.E. Dr. Urs Herren, Ambassador, the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal and Mr. Lok Darshan Regmi, Secretary, Ministry of Finance on behalf of their respective governments on 20 January 2016. 

The Government of Nepal has expressed its sincere appreciation to the Government of Switzerland for this grant assistance and for continued support to the socio-economic development of Nepal.
