Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter down under

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter, visited New Zealand on 25 October 2013 and met with Prime Minister John Key and Foreign Minister Murray McCully. This visit was the first by a Foreign Minister from Switzerland. Mr Burkhalter signed a joint statement with Mr McCully on the deepening of bilateral cooperation, in particular in consular matters. Furthermore, they agreed to hold regular meetings at ministerial level in the future. In his discussion with Mr Key, Mr Burkhalter appealed for improvements with regard to the pension entitlement of Swiss citizens living in New Zealand.
