The Swiss production "Reinas" by Director Klaudia Reynicke-Candeloro will be screened at the 34th edition of the film festival Film fra Sør, Oslo's oldest film festival. The festival is running from the 9th to the 17th of November at various locations in the Norwegian capital and offers films from 31 different countries.
In 1990, Aurora and Lucía, two teenage sisters lead privileged lives in Peru, but inflation has hit the country hard. Their mother plans to take the sisters to start a new life in Minnesota, USA. However, before they can leave, she needs their father’s consent for them to travel abroad. The father, who has long been absent, now returns to their lives, and the time they spend with him makes it increasingly difficult for them to leave their homeland as he decides to fight to win his two “queens” back.
Klaudia Reynicke-Candeloro is a Swiss-Peruvian filmmaker. She made her directorial debut with IL NIDO in 2016, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, and later MADE LOVE ME TENDER (2019). REINAS is her third feature film and premiered at Sundance in 2024.
