The Swiss production "Wisdom of Happiness" by Director Barabara Miller and Philip Delaquis will be screened at the 34th edition of the film festival Film fra Sør, Oslo's oldest film festival. The festival is running from the 9th to the 17th of November at various locations in the Norwegian capital and offers films from 31 different countries.
Wisdom of Happinness is an intimate and very beautiful documentary about the Dalai Lama, who – now in his nineties – offers practical advice on how we should navigate the challenges of the modern world. The Dalai Lama reflects on the balance between Tibetan Buddhist traditions and contemporary values in the globalized society we live in. How do we deal with all the violence and wars, and standing on the brink of an environmental catastrophe?
This is an unforgettable and meditative film for our time about finding lasting happiness in the face of all the challenges around us.
Barbara Miller was born in Winterthur in 1970. After graduating in Law from the University of Zurich, she studied Film, Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Zurich. She worked as an assistant director and editing assistant for Christian Frei on WAR PHOTOGRAPHER (2001). Her award-winning documentary FORBIDDEN VOICES (2012) was selected by over seventy renowned international festivals. #FEMALE PLEASURE (2018) premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and received the Premio Zonta Club Award of the Critics’ Week. WISDOM OF HAPPPINESS (2024) premieres at the Zurich Film Festival.

Special Event on 13th of November: Conversation about Peace and the Dalai Lama.
The Nobel Peace Center, Film fra Sør, and the Norwegian Tibet Committee celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Dalai Lama’s Nobel Peace Prize with a panel discussion at the Nobel Peace Center, followed by a film screening of WISDOM OF HAPPINESS at Vika Cinema.
The conversation will be held at the Nobel Peace Center and will be in English with the presence of Director Barbara Miller. The doors open at 18h00 and discussion starts at 18h30.

The film starts at 20h00 at Vika Cinema. Before the screening, there will be a brief Tibetan cultural performance by Tibetan-Norwegian dancers. After the film, there will be a Q&A with director Barbara Miller. The conversation will be in English.
