Ambassador Schmid seized the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Basta on his appointment as Minister of Economy and to highlight the very good cooperation between the two countries in the field of private sector development and business environment.

With 1.8 billion USD in net investments since 2010, Switzerland is among the most important foreign investors in Serbia. Swiss companies in Serbia have created more than 12’000 jobs and bilateral trade in goods and services has constantly grown despite the turbulences and disruptions of recent time.

The conversation also addressed economic challenges, the potential of spa tourism in Serbia, as well as the importance of applying EU standards in the field of environmental protection and corporate governance. Support for the development of the SME sector and women's entrepreneurship was also emphasized.
