Contexte | President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration is more open to engaging civil society and media to shape key policy priorities and democratic processes. However, restrictions instituted under the previous government regulating civil society organizations (CSOs) and the media space still remain in place, and the sector continues to face internal governance and coordination challenges. Besides, citizens continue to exhbit limited ability to hold their government to account, also because of the limited freedom for CSOs and media to advocate for their citizens’ needs. |
Objectifs | To contribute to a more open and inclusive society in which different tiers of government demonstrate greater accountability to, and collaborate with, civil society actors to find innovative public service solutions that better meet the needs of citizens. |
Groupes cibles |
Primary beneficiaries: Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), media, and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), collectively referenced as ‘civic actors’; and relevant Government actors. Secondary beneficiaries: The Tanzanian citizens, particularly the most vulnerable groups (women, youth, people with disabilities). |
