Skills Development Program Cambodia

Skills development is a key driver for inclusive growth in Cambodia, but delivery is poor. Through the Skills Development Program, SDC supports the rural poor and disadvantaged youth in northern provinces to have better access to more gainful and decent employment through vocational and life skills and contributes to strengthening the TVET national regulatory framework for better inclusion, more effective delivery and higher relevance of vocational skills to labor market needs.

Appui à la décentralisation financière en Afrique de l’Ouest

En Afrique de l’Ouest, faute de ressources locales suffisantes, les collectivités territoriales ne sont pas en mesure de répondre aux besoins de base de la population. Aux côtés de l’Allemagne et de la France, la Suisse soutien la mise en œuvre de la stratégie régionale de décentralisation financière de l’Union Economique et Monétaire Ouest Africaine, visant une augmentation des transferts vers les collectivités territoriales et une amélioration de la fiscalité locale, au bénéfice de près de 112 millions d’habitants.

Support to Integrated Water Resource Management in Kosovo

The water resources in Kosovo are increasingly under threat from pollution and rising demand for water for farming, industry and growing urban centers. Climate change is projected to exacerbate the impact on the availability of water resources as well as increase the risk for flood related disasters. The program supports different stakeholders in Kosovo at the national, regional and local level to tackle these complex pressures in establishing an integrated water resources management approach.

Towards Elimination of Malaria in the United Republic of Tanzania (TEMT)

Tanzania made massive progress in malaria control through innovative approaches over the past decade. To sustain and expand these results, the program will capacitate Tanzanian institutions to engage in subnational, intersectoral and cross borders malaria elimination strategies in the region whilst continuously informing the global malaria policies and technical guidelines with practices from Tanzania. Switzerland is a recognised global expert in malaria, providing a strong rational for a renewed Swiss commitment towards “a malaria free world” by 2030.


Participation des femmes dans le processus de paix, de sécurité et de relèvement au Mali

La Suisse s’engage au Mali pour une participation plus significative des femmes dans le processus de paix. Par l’intermédiaire de ONU-Femmes, les soutiens directs à des initiatives de la société civile malienne seront complétés par la réalisation du Plan d’Action National pour la mise en œuvre de la Résolution 1325 de l’ONU, concernant la participation de femmes dans les processus de paix et les garanties de sécurité. Le programme contribue ainsi à la stabilisation de la sous-région


Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Project (GBV Project)

Gender-based violence is prevalent in Nepal because of patriarchal values, lack of rights awareness or support services and poor implementation of laws. In the first phase, the project will directly reach 50,000 households in three districts with GBV prevention activities involving women, girls, men and boys and will provide improved medical, psychosocial and legal services for a minimum of 1’000 GBV survivors. Subsequently, the coverage will be increased.


Swiss Malaria Group

Founded in 2007 as an informal network, the Swiss Malaria Group (SMG) has undergone organisational development leading to a formalized multi-stakeholder group with a strategic focus on raising awareness about malaria and the comparative advantage of Switzerland to defeat the disease. Organised as an association, with an Executive Secretariat hosted by Medicus Mundi Switzerland, the 15 organisations help accelerating malaria elimination, through innovative control measures, knowledge and financial flows.


Supporting Civil Society Organizations in Nicaragua

A strong civil society is essential to the quality and sustainability of this effort. Anti-corruption and Accountability

Corruption is a politically sensitive issue in Mozambique. Fostering an environment of good governance and deterring corrupt practices requires a commitment from stakeholders at all levels. This programme aims to leverage Switzerland’s high level of trust and credibility in the local context to forge constructive coalitions between government, the judiciary, civil society and the private sector. The overall goal is to reduce the negative impact of corruption on development in Mozambique.


Intégration de la santé mentale dans les soins de santé primaire au Burundi

L’intégration de la santé mentale dans les services de santé primaire du Burundi vise à renforcer le système de prise en charge des personnes atteintes de maladies mentales post traumatiques. La Suisse est un partenaire important du Burundi qui a un intérêt à contribuer à mettre fin au cycle de violences qui trouvent leur origine en partie dans des traumatismes vécus mais non traités. Le programme appuie les institutions nationales concernées, le système de formation spécialisée et vise l’amélioration du cadre législatif en santé mentale.


UN Joint Programme on Youth Employment

Cambodia is the most youthful country in South East Asia with more than 50% of the population below 25 years. The key challenge of Cambodia is to create decent and productive employment opportunities for new entrants to the labour market. With its contribution, SDC addresses the challenge by enabling young people to have access to skills and quality education and employment whilst promoting rightful and decent working conditions.

Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt

Egypt is facing economic challenges among which high poverty and high unemployment rates impact the most marginalized to a greater degree. This new program contributes to an innovative and inclusive development approach to promote the green economy[1] through utilizing agricultural waste and other untapped profitable green resources to make use and leverage local resources to strengthen the livelihoods of vulnerable communities in Upper Egypt and create jobs.
