Project Preparation Facility (PPF)

Project completed

The Swiss Contribution aims at financing a broad variety of projects. The PPF provided the necessary financial assistance to enable Executing Agencies to submit high quality project proposals. This was especially important in the case of complex projects.

Note: the texts under all the headings, with the exception of 'Results achieved', describe the situation before the start of the project.

Background

Executing Agencies, especially of poorer regions do not have the means to prepare good Final Project Proposals. Likewise, complex projects demand a costly preparation.

Objectives

The goal of the PPF was to ensure the efficient preparation of good quality Final Project Proposals.

Target groups

Executing Agencies/Intermediate Bodies

Activities

The PPF could be used for mandates of competent external experts for preparing studies, e.g. feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and/or translations into English.

Results

Achieved results:

The Project Preparation has significantly contributed to the thorough preparation of Swiss funded projects. It allowed the Executing Agencies and Intermediate Bodies to elaborate high-quality project documentation. Therefore, the Project Preparation Facility played a major role in enabling Switzerland to approve all the projects and to fully commit all the available funds by June 2012.
