Traverse: Climate finance in the post-2015 context– implications for ODA & beyond?

Wednesday, 29.04.2015 – Wednesday, 29.04.2015

Public event; Conference Assembly

Reaching the target of mobilising USD 100 billion for climate finance every year from 2020 is key to concluding the new climate agreement in 2015. Official development assistance (ODA) is expected to play an important catalytic role in promoting a new climate-compatible sustainable development agenda on a global scale. At the same time, there is broad consensus that ODA should continue to focus on poverty reduction, especially for developing countries with limited domestic resources and a high incidence of poverty.

This edition of TRAVERSE will discuss climate finance in the context of the emerging post-2015 sustainable development agenda, addressing questions such as:

  • What is the current global landscape of climate finance - important trends, sources and challenges?
  • What is the role of climate finance in the context of the larger post-2015 sustainable development landscape? What is the role of ODA versus other sources?
