From 2007 to 2016, the SDC focused its cooperation activities in Bhutan on governance. At the request of the Bhutanese authorities, the SDC supported a variety of projects with the aim of making public institutions more transparent and increasing citizen participation in decision-making processes.

To mark the conclusion of the SDC’s activities in Bhutan, a panel discussion will be held to bring various representatives of the SDC and this small Himalayan kingdom together to discuss Switzerland’s contribution to the country's democratisation. The event will include musical interludes, an exhibition and a drinks reception with food.
