The Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation High Level Conference will take place in Geneva from 12-14 December 2022. The main objective of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) and the conference is to move the focus beyond the mere provision of funds to the question of how international development cooperation can be improved.

The Global Partnership (GPEDC) brings together governments, bilateral and multilateral organisations, civil society, the private sector and other development cooperation actors to ensure that cooperation is effective and exchanges are promoted. Switzerland has co-chaired this partnership since 2019 as the representative of the donor countries. President Ignazio Cassis will open the conference on Monday, 12 December 2022 at 12:00.

The high-level meeting in Geneva is taking place at the halfway point of the 2030 Agenda and faces a double challenge: on the one hand, there is an urgent need to make progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), whose implementation has fallen behind due to the numerous current crises. On the other hand, it is necessary to strengthen the resilience of the most threatened countries against the consequences of climate change.
