The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs is organizing the 3rd International Cooperation Forum (IC Forum). It will take place on 11-12 April 2024 in Basel and is dedicated to the topic of peace.

Artlink, the office for cultural cooperation, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The SDC has supported Artlink for many years. The Senegalese musician Kara Sylla Ka will give a concert at the PROGR artistic and cultural centre in Bern as part of the celebrations.

The state of being landless or without secure land titles often goes hand in hand with poverty, hunger and expulsion. Land is one of the most important resources of all, especially for the poor. Poor access to land compromises human rights such as the rights to food, water and health.

The FAO estimates that over the period 2011- 2013 around 842 million people, or one out of eight worldwide, suffered from chronic hunger. Despite overall progress, food security remains a major global challenge and progress is mixed and subject to marked differences across regions.

During war and violent conflict, sexual and gender-based violence is a commonplace occurrence. On 11 November, a panel discussion about this issue, the challenges it poses, and possible approaches to solve the problem will be held at the Cinematte cinema in Bern. Among the participants in the event will be Zeinab Hawa Bangura, the UN secretary-general’s special representative on sexual violence in conflict, and Manuel Sager, the new director-general of the SDC.
Scheduled for November 4-6, 2014 in Washington D.C., this 2nd International Conference will tackle the difficulties linked to the evaluation of climate change and development, described by many as a major 21st century evaluation challenge
From 04 to 09 November 2014, the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (Winterthur International Short Film Festival) is, once again, bringing a variety of short films produced by film-makers from around the world to Winterthur. As part of its commitment to culture, the SDC has been supporting the festival since 2008 to promote films from the South and East, as well as their directors.
The Annual Development Cooperation Conference will take place on Friday 29 August 2014 in the Geneva Arena. This year’s conference will be an opportunity for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to provide an insight into their activities in the area of climate change and development cooperation.
