Global Governance on Food Security and Nutrition
The fight against hunger and malnutrition requires coordinated policy guidance based on scientific evidence and informed by voices from the ground. The Committee on World Food Security is the platform for all stakeholders to work together to provide such guidance. This contribution gives Switzerland additional leverage in shaping the policy environment at global level and allows Swiss development cooperation approaches to be incorporated into global policy discussions.

Contexto | To eliminate hunger and malnutrition coordinated and coherent policy responses are required. Sustainable policy responses need to be evidence-based and be developed in an inclusive manner, including smallholder farmers, women, youth and the private sector. The Committee on World Food Security (CFS ) serves as the foremost inclusive international and intergovernmental platform addressing global governance for food security and nutrition (FSN). It aims at eliminating hunger and malnutrition through improved policy convergence and coherence at global level, which leads to strengthened actions at national level. |
Objetivos | Contribute to food security and nutrition, sustainable food systems transformation and the progressive realization of the right to adequate food by providing effective global policies based on inclusive and evidence-based processes. |

Resultados |
Resultados previstos: Policy recommendations on inequalities, urban-periurban food systems and resilient food systems based on evidence and SDC’s experiences at national and local levels; global thematic events and fora on the Right to Food, climate change, biodiversity and land degradation. Development and implementation of Action Plan on increasing awareness, ownership and use of CFS policy outcomes on all levels. Inter-platform dialogues with civil society organizations platforms and scientific collaboration and partnerships with other science-policy interfaces established. Resultados de las fases anteriores: The CFS has proven its capacity to be a platform for an inclusive and evidence based debate, even in more polarized times. The CFS developed and endorsed Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment and on Food Systems and Nutrition; and Policy Recommendations on Agroecological and other Innovative Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. These policy outcomes can serve as basis and guidance for SDC projects. The use and application of the CFS policy outcomes at national level remained a challenge. |
