Moins d’accidents et de victimes dans les transports publics

Il y a eu l’an dernier nettement moins d’accidents et de blessés graves dans les transports publics en Suisse que les années précédentes. Le nombre de morts est également bas par rapport aux années précédentes. La Suisse revient donc en tête des pays européens en matière de sécurité dans les transports publics, confirmant ainsi la tendance à long terme d’un très haut niveau de sécurité. C’est ce qui ressort du rapport de sécurité 2015, que l’Office fédéral des transports (OFT) publie aujourd’hui.

Switzerland to chair the Codex Alimentarius Commission

Awilo Ochieng Pernet was elected chairperson of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) on Tuesday 15 July in Geneva. The lawyer has worked for this international food safety regulatory body since 1999 and been Vice-Chairperson of the CAC since 2011. The confidence shown in her by this election strengthens Switzerland in its commitment to safe and fairly traded food.

President Sommaruga meets the King and Prime Minister of the Netherlands

The Netherlands will assume the presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2016. Partly in view of that, President Simonetta Sommaruga met Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for a working visit in The Hague on Monday. The two discussed a range of issues including European and asylum policy and efforts to fight terrorism. Before the meeting, President Sommaruga paid a courtesy visit to King Willem-Alexander.

Working visit of Federal Councillor Leuthard in London to focus on energy and the climate

Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard will make a two-day working visit to London from 10 to 11 February 2016. A meeting is planned with Amber Rudd, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate of the United Kingdom, to discuss current questions in the field of energy and climate policy. The Head of DETEC will also open Cleantech Innovate 2016, in which six Swiss companies will present their technological innovations to more than 320 investors and representatives of the financial and political sectors.
