Switzerland’s Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2014 was evidence of the country’s commitment to stability in Europe and neighbouring regions – one of its foreign policy priorities. The Swiss Chairmanship was guided by the motto «Creating a Security Community for the Benefit of Everyone».

The annual meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council will be held in the Basel Congress Centre from 4 - 5 of December 2014.

Prior to the annual meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, a civil society conference will take place for the fifth time from 2 to 3 December 2014.

Youth project

Switzerland gave youth a voice and increased their participation in the OSCE’s work during its Chairmanship. The Model OSCE provided young people with the opportunity to get to know the organisation better and negotiate their own “Youth Action Plan” for the OSCE. Young people were also a key priority of Didier Burkhalter's year as President of the Confederation in 2014
