Conference by Transparency International Hungary

Ambassador Jean-François Paroz participated on 17 February 2014 in the opening ceremony of the international conference organized in Budapest by Transparency International on safeguarding EU funds against fraud and corruption through the civil control mechanism of Integrity Pacts.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Paroz gave a short overview of the latest legislative developments in Switzerland, outlined the measures foreseen in the Swiss Contribution to minimize the risks of misuse of funds and corruption, and mentioned the pilot Integrity Pact applied in the Swiss Contribution funded Ózd water rehabilitation project as a third tier of controlling measure. The pilot Integrity Pact in Ózd is the result of a partnership with several actors in Hungary, including the Municipality of Ózd and Transparency International.

The participants – who came from twelve countries - continued on 18 February to getting acquainted in workshops and panel discussions with the initial lessons learned and experiences on using the Integrity Pact scheme in public procurement processes.
