How can I obtain asylum in Switzerland?
An application for asylum can be made orally or in writing at a border post, at border control at a Swiss airport or in the reception and processing centres for asylum seekers in Switzerland. Asylum seekers abroad wishing to enter Switzerland can submit an application for a humanitarian visa at their nearest Swiss representation.
The applicant must be able to show that he/she has been subject to serious disadvantage because of their race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership of a particular social group or has a well-founded fear of such disadvantage.
Applications are considered at the Federal Office for Migration, and each is given detailed and individual examination.
