10 Interagency Emergency Health Kits for International Emergency Medical Teams working in the Gaza Strip
Access to basic medical care is severely impaired in the Gaza Strip. This donation of 10 Interagency Emergency Health Kits to WHO for use by international Emergency Medical Team in the Gaza Strip will provide over 100,000 people for 3 months with urgently needed basic medical care.

| Contexte | The terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, has resulted in a war in Gaza, which has severely impacted access to medical services for the Palestinian civilian population. While the need for medical supplies is high, the WHO international Emergency Medical Team (EMT) mechanism is designed for short term response. Therefore, many EMTs have difficulty in maintaining supplies of critical medicines and equipment. One way to address the shortage of medical supplies is to send Interagency Emergency Health (IEH) Kits for use by international EMTs. These kits are designed primarily for “life-saving” purposes, not for health conditions requiring continued care, and can fill immediate medical gaps. WHO estimates a need for around 100 to 150 IEH Kits (for approx. 20 EMTs) to meet the needs of patients in the active and planned field hospitals and primary healthcare clinics over the next 3 to 6 months. |
