Poverty Reduction Fund (PRF III), Phase 4

Since 2002, the Poverty Reduction Fund is a main programme in Lao PDR that effectively and efficiently delivers resources and public services, such as water supply, dispensaries, schools and village roads to the poorest villages in remote areas. PRF contributes to reduce rural poverty through enabling poor communities to assess their own needs and priorities through participatory mechanism and to determine how best to use resources to maximize their social and economic development.

UNESCO – Bureau international d’éducation (BIE), contribution 2016 -2017

Le BIE est l’institut spécialisé de l’UNESCO dont le mandat porte sur les curricula, composante essentielle d’une éducation de qualité. Sa mission est de soutenir les Etats membres de l’UNESCO dans leurs efforts pour améliorer l’apprentissage des élèves. Le statut de centre d’excellence du BIE constitue encore un défi au vu de sa situation financière fragile. L’appui de la Suisse au BIE vise à assurer que le BIE délivre des résultats en termes d’amélioration et d’adaptation des curricula dans les pays les plus pauvres.

Scaling-up SuizAgua Peru and Chile

Corporate Water Footprint (WF) frameworks in Chile and Peru animate private companies to use and manage water in a sustainable manner. Civil society is made aware of sustainable water cultures by behavioural change campaigns and by being part of watershed collective actions with the private sector. Cooperation among SuizAgua Colombia, Peru and Chile and with other partners ensures further outreach of the project in Latin America with the help of an active community of practice sharing gained knowledge.

Le Rapport mondial de suivi sur l’éducation (GEM) rend compte des progrès accomplis dans la réalisation de l’Objectif pour le Développement Durable 4 (ODD4) relatif à l’éducation. Il analyse également la portée de l’éducation dans l’atteinte des autres objectifs de développement durable. Traduit dans16 langues, le Rapport touche un large public et suscite les débats sur les politiques éducatives et leur mise en œuvre.

Responsible Governance of Land Tenure through Voluntary Guidelines

The Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests (VGGT) are an international standard that promote secure tenure rights and equitable access to land, fisheries and forests as a means of eradicating poverty. SDC supports a multi-donor programme of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) that assists a number of countries in West Africa and East Asia in the implementation and the integration of the VGGT into their legislation by providing technical and institutional support.

Renforcement de la gouvernance locale de l’eau et de l’assainissement (REGLEAU)

Le programme REGLEAU vise l’amélioration des conditions de vie des populations grâce à l’augmentation de la disponibilité et l’amélioration de la qualité des services d’eau potable et d’assainissement. L’expérience et l’expertise reconnue de la Suisse en matière de gouvernance locale de l’eau permettront d’accompagner les acteurs du secteur de l’eau dans six communes du département du Sud-Est pour permettre une gouvernance locale de ces services, tout en contribuant à l’amélioration des conditions-cadres au niveau régional et national.

Prevention of Domestic Violence in Tajikistan

Domestic violence is widespread in Tajik society (70% of women experience domestic violence in their life). Despite the adoption of the law on domestic violence in 2013, the Government lacks coordinated mechanisms for its implementation. In the exit phase the project will shift from NGO based service provision towards supporting the state coordination mechanisms, the establishment of an effective public referral system providing services to the victims, and public awareness activities with a focus on contributing to behavioural changes.

Niger: UNICEF Secondment WASH

Depuis la reprise des combats entre les armées nationales de quatre pays et le groupe armé Boko Haram en 2015, provoquant le déplacement massif de plus de 2,6 million de personnes à travers la région, la pression sur les ressources des communautés hôtes et les infrastructures existantes s'est trouvée décuplée, notamment au Niger. Le présent projet vise à renforcer l'équipe technique de l'UNICEF de ce pays, laquelle supervise la coordination des projets humanitaires relatifs à l'eau, l'hygiène et à l'assainissement.

Support to the DPCG (Development Partners’ Coordination Group) Secretariat in Rwanda

Switzerland and the UK, in an effort to facilitate a broad and fruitful development policy dialogue in Rwanda, will dedicate financial resources towards a UNDP support to the line ministry in charge of aid coordination. It entails, on the one hand, carrying out analytical research leading to evidence-based policy decision, and, on the other hand, the efficient management of the Development Partners’ Coordination Group (DPCG) Secretariat.

International and Swiss evidence-based policy dialogue on trade and investment frameworks for sustainable development

The proposed programme will focus on advancing policy dialogues on international economic governance, and particularly on international investment flows and frameworks. Against the backdrop of the 2030 Agenda, new thinking and approaches shall fuel the argument on international investments, which are bound to contribute more directly to sustainable development cooperation and outcomes. To this purpose, targeted evidence and methodological knowledge will be generated, and used purposefully to propose options and alternatives for frameworks in global fora as well as in Switzerland.

Cultural Programme Tanzania (CPT)

This programme uses a comprehensive approach to promote local culture and livelihood opportunities for young artists, and for social cohesion. It aims to do so through institutional and specific projects’ support. The programme is in alignment with SDC’s Culture and Development Policy that supports devoting a minimum of 1% of SDC’s operational budget in a country to initiatives in the local artistic and culture sector.
