Somali Resilience Programme (SomReP)

SomReP aims to foster sustainable livelihoods and increase the resilience of (agro-) pastoralist communities to climate shocks across Somalia. By supporting vulnerable communities to better cope with ecological disasters SomRep makes an important contribution to mitigate key drivers of fragility in Somalia and thereby promotes Switzerland’s interest to strengthen stability and economic develop ment in the Horn of Africa region.
Strengthening the Climate Adaptation Capacities in Georgia

Since 2017, Switzerland has contributed to national and international efforts to adapt to the increasing impacts of climate change in Georgia. It will continue to support the further development of the legal and policy framework for natural hazard mapping and zoning in 2024-2027, with an additional focus on strengthening the inclusion of women's voices, needs and capacities in disaster risk reduction. The project will also rely on the Swiss expertise on avalanche and landslide forecasting.

En juin 2024, le gouvernement annonçait plus de 3 millions de personnes déplacées internes du fait de la crise sécuritaire, accentuant les tensions et les conflits dans les zones d’accueil. Avec le projet Faso Yafa, la Suisse soutient la production et la diffusion via les radios communautaires, d'informations humanitaires utiles à ces personnes déplacées et leur donne un espace de parole. Elle soutient aussi le dialogue entre personnes déplacées et communautés hôtes, luttant contre la stigmatisation et renforçant la cohésion sociale.
Enhancing access to safe land in Kharkiv region through mechanical clearance

This project led by the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) in partnership with the machine producer Digger enhances efficiency to prepare suspected land of explosive ordnance contamination for survey and clearance. It focuses on small farmers in the Kharkiv oblast (with the highest number of victims) within the WFP/FAO programme. It also promotes gender participation in mine action, with a 100% female multi-task team conducting operations, including with the Digger machine.

Accelerating School Meals, Empowering Communities: A Climate Resilient Approach

The macroeconomic crisis, characterized by high inflation and public debt, in addition to the accelerating impact of climate change, is putting pressure on food security, families’ livelihoods and public services. Households’ coping capacities are getting stretched and school drop outs rising. This contribution aims to enhance localization of the National School Lunch Programme and increase communities’ economic and climate resilience, while keeping children at school.
Building community health resilience and alleviating poverty through multisectoral cooperation for elimination of schistosomiasis in Cambodia and Laos PDR

The project contributions of the SDC and the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency to the two World Health Organisation offices of Cambodia and Lao PDR will foster the elimination of schistosomiasis (Mekongi) in the hard-to-reach areas along the Mekong River. It will contribute to community empowerment on health issues and strengthen the health authorities’ capacities in the fight against this neglected tropical disease. The Swiss TPH will inject its decades of Swiss expertise in the Mekong to the interventions.
Catalyst for a Harmonised Approach on Nexus for Growth and Empowerment (CHANGE)

Switzerland is leading the humanitarian-development nexus approach to the protracted Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh through five UN agencies, which will work to mainstream and institutionalise cross-sectoral cooperation by strengthening the capacity of local non-governmental organisations. This will not only improve assistance to refugees and advance durable solutions, but also promote local ownership and leadership of the Rohingya response, ultimately reducing costs.
Arts and Culture Programme in Nepal

The Arts and Culture programme aims to invigorate Nepal's arts sector by partnering with three local cultural spaces focused on documentaries, music and photography. it promotes creative expression, professional growth, gender equality and social inclusion and community engagement, contributing to cultural development and an inclusive Nepali society. The programme aligns with SDC’s Thematic Guidance on Culture and Development, supporting independent, diverse and participatory cultural sectors.
Visitors' Centre Africa Hall

The Africa Hall in Addis Ababa, is an iconic building, representing Africa's history, unity and culture. Approved by the UN General Assembly, a project was launched to modernize the infrastrucuture with the aim of restoring it as a state-of-the-art conference centre and tourist attraction. The building of a visitors' centre is a strategic element of the overall project intended as a gateway for the public to interact with the Africa hall and the Pan-Africanist legacy this building enshrines.
Supporting Moldova in confiscating and recovering stolen assets (CRESTA)

In its path towards viable democracy, Moldova has to demonstrate commitment to some core values and standards, including the rule of law, which entails deep anti-corruption reforms. Whilst the country has adopted significant national legislation to fight corruption and improve asset recovery, the value of confiscated assets remains low. Switzerland will assist Moldovan anti-corruption institutions to enhance their capability to recover and manage stolen assets, ensuring effective application of the legislation.

The United Nations System needs an instrument to launch initiatives and gather resources for peacebuilding throughout agencies and instruments. The Peacebuilding Fund is serving this purpose and allows to articulate peacebuilding and development actions into relevant responses to existing crises and potential fragility areas. Switzerland’s contribution to the Fund is critical to assert its leading role in peacebuilding and recognized capacity to link local and global approaches.
