Improper waste management is widespread in North Macedonia and a pressing environmental issue threatening public health and environment. To address it Switzerland engages with Pakomak to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and transparency of its packaging waste recovery system1 through digitalization and modernization of packaging waste selection2, collection, sorting, transportation and recycling. These efforts will significantly decrease the amount of waste disposed in landfills and contribute to the Green Agenda.

SDC’s thematic section Economy and Education (E+E), including the Competence Centre for Engagement with the Private Sector (CEP), is in charge of knowledge management as well as internal strategic and operational advice in the areas of Private sector development, Vocational skills development, Basic education and for the private sector engagement. The backstopping system of E+E provides specialised external thematic expertise which will improve the planning and implementation of SDC’s projects.

Rural Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Georgia face significant challenges that hinder their access to capital, technology adoption and entry into new markets. This project leverages Switzerland's expertise in finance and SMEs to address these issues. The aim is to strengthen the resilience and growth of SMEs by improving their access to a wider range of better business support services, ultimately increasing income and employment opportunities for rural women and men.

La réduction de la pauvreté et la réalisation de l'Agenda 2030 nécessitent une mobilisation sans précédent de fonds privés. Pour les pays en développement riches en minerais, celle-ci passe par un partage juste et équitable des revenus tirés de l’extraction, transformation et commerce de leurs ressources minières. Cette intervention contribue à renforcer l’implication des pays en développement riches en minerais dans les forums multilatéraux grâce à des analyses et propositions de solutions.

The Taliban takeover in August 2021 changed the political landscape and the socio-economic and humanitarian situation has been deteriorating. Being a driver of the former governments’ reform agenda, the ARTF shifted to an off-budget approach in support of over 70 percent of the Afghans with basic services (e.g. health, food security). As ARTF’s donor, Switzerland takes part in strategic decision making and supports the WB in its crucial aid coordination role in nowadays Afghanistan.

Solidar Suisse and Brücke Le Pont are joining forces in the Decent Work Alliance to contribute to an inclusive and sustainable economy and decent jobs in the fight against poverty. Both Alliance partners empha-size Decent Work (SDG 8), carving a unique niche in Swiss international cooperation. Due to their trade union background, the Alliance partners can credibly access sections of the Swiss population that are difficult to reach for other actors, to strengthen their understanding for international cooperation.

IFAD is one of the 24 priority multilateral organisations of the Swiss International Cooperation and shares its priorities on issues of food security, climate change, nutrition, gender and youth, through innovation and increased engagement with the private sector.

Today, most migrants and refugees find protection and opportunities in cities, and cities are at the forefront of fostering inclusive communities. The Global Cities Fund for Migrants and Refugees al-lows for cities’ innovative ideas to foster migrants’ contribution to the sustainable development of their host cities. The project follows the IC strategy’s thematic priority on migration, strengthening cooperation with local actors, and builds on SDCs leading engagement in urban migration.

La Suisse poursuit son appui à la Communauté Economique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest-CEDEAO et aux acteurs privés de la filière bétail-viande entamé en 2018, pour faciliter les échanges commerciaux dans trois corridors reliant pays sahéliens (Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Tchad) et pays côtiers (Nigeria, Bénin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire). L’objectif final est une augmentation de la sécurité alimentaire, des emplois et revenus des éleveurs et commerçants, au bénéfice d’un million de personnes.
