JOR: Strengthening Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) Humanitarian Corridor for Gaza
Jordan’s humanitarian corridor remains a critical lifeline for delivering aid to Gaza. Through this intervention, Switzerland contributes to strengthening the operational capacity of a key partner for humanitarian aid to Gaza: the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO). The project will reinforce JHCO by expanding staff capacity, enhancing logistics, and optimizing the Amman humanitarian hub for efficient aid delivery. The contribution is part of the Federal Council’s decision from 26 November 2025 to grant CHF 23 million to support the “Gaza Peace Plan” of the United States.

| Contesto | The Jordanian humanitarian corridor has become a vital lifeline for Gaza, delivering food, medicine, and shelter materials despite restrictions and damaged infrastructure. Since March 2025, more than 428’000 people have been newly displaced, and nearly half a million are now in The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Phase 5 (Catastrophe/Famine). At the centre of this effort, JHCO the responsible organisation of aid delivery through the Jordan relief corridor faces increasing pressure as demand for aid grows while convoy routes remain blocked or limited. With warehouses already holding tens of thousands of pallets ready for dispatch, JHCO’s logistical capacity is stretched to its limits. Strengthening their capacity is therefore essential to sustain Jordan’s leadership in regional humanitarian response and to ensure life-saving assistance continues to reach Gaza’s most vulnerable communities. |

Risultati principali attesi: Output 1: 10 additional humanitarian staff hired to support the expanding humanitarian corridor operations to Gaza including providing targeted capacity building and professional training for newly hired and existing personnel. Output 2: Continuation of warehousing operations through the funding of rental costs for multiple storage facilities, ensuring uninterrupted receipt and storing of aid. Output 3: Sustained transportation and operational capacity, including coverage of fuel, vehicle maintenance, utilities, and other operational costs, ensuring continuous and effective movement of aid to warehouses from donors and suppliers and transportation costs of convoy's trucks secured. | Coordinamento con altri progetti e attori | This project builds on previous support to JHCO (7F-06833.07.13), which strengthened JHCO’s capacity to respond to the Gaza crisis by improving the efficiency and quality of its existing warehouses. It also aligns with the efforts of multiple donors, UN agencies, and INGOs who are supporting JHCO in enhancing its ability to effectively contribute to the implementation of the “Gaza Peace Plan”. It also complements Switzerland’s planned support to WHO for medical evacuations of children from Gaza for treatment in Jordan, as part of the Swiss Confederation’s additional allocation of CHF 23 million to support the “Gaza Peace Plan”. |
