The Minister of Education and Science, Krasimir Valchev, and the newly appointed Swiss Ambassador to Bulgaria, Pierre Hagmann, welcomed the attendees. The Minister noted that the Programme will encourage more schools, employers, and students to embrace dual education, while also benefitting from Swiss know-how. Ambassador-designate Hagmann highlighted the long-standing tradition of valuing vocational education and training in Swityerland. These values are deeply rooted in our society and also guide our international cooperation. VET in Switzerland is not seen as a second choice, but as an equally valid pathway to successful professional careers, reflecting a culture that values skills and lifelong learning, he added.

As part of the launching event, guests were invited to explore a special exhibition by Presence Switzerland, showcasing the Swiss model of vocational education. The exhibition highlighted the deep-rooted role of VET in Swiss society and its importance in shaping a skilled workforce and inclusive economic development. Through engaging visuals and informative displays, the exhibition offered insights into how Switzerland’s dual education system successfully combines classroom learning with hands-on experience in companies.

DOMINO 2 continues the legacy of Swiss support for Bulgaria’s educational reform, focusing on sustainable capacity building across public and private sectors. The Programme is a testament to the strong bilateral ties between Switzerland and Bulgaria under the Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Programme, and reflects a shared commitment to investing in the future of Bulgaria’s youth.

By bringing Swiss expertise to Bulgaria, DOMINO 2 empowers students with practical skills, supports employers in securing qualified professionals, and contributes to long-term, inclusive growth.
