Cultural exchange projects

In the framework of Switzerland's communication abroad the Embassy supports activities promoting the Swiss culture and languages in North Macedonia, mostly as part of the Francophonie Month, the Week of the Italian Language in the World and the Days of the German Language.

Since the establishment of the Embassy in Skopje Switzerland has also been one of the major supporters of the independent cultural scene in North Macedonia, be it through small actions, national and regional projects.

As the Swiss Arts Council, Pro Helvetia promotes contemporary, professional art and culture of national interest on behalf of the federal government. In the framework of its activities outside of Switzerland Pro Helvetia promotes the dissemination of artistic and cultural creation from Switzerland and exchange with other cultural areas through grants for events, projects and translations. Through promotional measures, it contributes to the professional perception and networking of artists from Switzerland among event organisers and experts within the country and abroad. 

Pro Helvetia promotes exchange with other cultural areas through residencies, research and collaboration between artists from Switzerland and other countries. It focuses on new networks, regions and markets where there is potential for deeper interaction and a stronger presence of art and culture from Switzerland, with a particular emphasis on building partnerships with regional organisers.
