Swiss writer Eugene
Valerya Noskova

Romanian Cultural Institute, Skeppsbron 20, Stockholm

Monday, September 26 at 18:30

Eugène was born in 1969 in Bucharest, Romania, but grew up in Switzerland after his parents were granted political asylum there. His extraordinary depiction of his childhood and youth is now published in Swedish translation entitled "Ungdomens dal" (Lindelöws Bokförlag). The story begins in Romania during the dictatorship in the early 1970s and is based on twenty different objects linked to different memories. Although the objects are bound to their time, the experiences and feelings are timeless and important, especially today when we experience times of social upheaval and migration flows. During the evening, he talks with Benita Funke, Cultural Officer at the Swiss Embassy in Stockholm and Françoise Sule, teacher at the University of Stockholm about his writings, the choices he has made in life and his view of the future.
