Swiss writer Irena Brežná visits Sweden

The Swiss writer Irena Irena Brežná emigrated from Czechoslovakia to Switzerland in 1968. This watershed experience forms the bedrock of her articles, essays and prose works as well as her work as a psychologist, translator, interpreter for refugees and human rights activist. She has carried out and supported various humanitarian projects, for example in Guinea and Chechnya. She is a regular contributor to several Swiss, German and Slovak newspapers and magazines and has received a number of awards for her journalistic and literary texts. For her novel “Die undankbare Fremde” she received the literature prize of the Swiss Confederation and the book has been translated into French, Italian, Russian, Macedonian, Dutch and Swedish.

In Sweden she will speak and read at four different places;

Wednesday 3 May at the University of Gothenburg together with her translator Anna Lindberg.

Thursday 4 May in the Lund City Library at 17.30

Saturday 6 May at the Literature Fair at Kulturhuset in Stockholm at. 15.15

Sunday, 7 May in Uppsala, at Domkyrkocafét at 15.00
