Opening of borders

According to information from the Uruguayan government, the borders will open from 1st September 2021 to all vaccinated foreigners who own property in Uruguay and can show a negative PCR test. From November 1st, 2021 the borders will open for all vaccinated foreigners as long as they can show a negative PCR test. In case the country of origin does not vaccinate minors, a seven days quarantine will be required for the whole family upon arrival in Uruguay.

New Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Swiss Embassy in Uruguay is closely following the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). The borders are mostly closed. For more information on entry to Uruguay, please contact the Uruguayan representation in your country and consult the websites of the Uruguayan government and especially the Uruguayan National Directorate of Migration.

The Embassy urges the Swiss community in Uruguay to follow recommendations and guidelines given out by local authorities for the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus. In doubt, please refer to the Ministry of Public Health’s website.

In Switzerland, the relevant authority is the Federal Office of Public Health, which provides regular updates on its website regarding the situation in our country. The Embassy also provides regular updates on the measures taken by the Swiss government on its website.
