In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to WFP operations allows the World Food Programme (WFP) to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations.

The project in brief
Background

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger and under-nutrition. Every year, WFP provides food assistance to more than 80 million people, mostly women and children.

Providing immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations.

Medium-term outcomes

WFP provides emergency food assistance in 75 countries in the aftermath of natural or man-made disasters and supports food assistance programmes that bridge the gap between relief and recovery, helping communities build a better future.
