Despite significant progress, HIV/AIDS continues to be a public health, human rights and development challenge. Geneva-based UNAIDS leads a multisectoral and multistakeholder response to HIV/AIDS through the provision of strategic information, analyses and political advocacy. UNAIDS contributes to prevent and reduce new HIV infections, AIDS-related deaths and related stigma and discrimination and as such, significantly contributes to end the epidemic as a public health threat by 2030 worldwide.

Au Burkina Faso, plus de 3 millions d’enfants de 6 à 16 ans sont exclus de l’école du fait de la crise sécuritaire et des faiblesses structurelles du système éducatif. Pour y faire face, la Suisse soutient le renforcement de l’accès, de la qualité et de la gouvernance de l’éducation, afin d’assurer une éducation inclusive, équitable et protectrice. Cet appui vise à donner aux jeunes de meilleures perspectives d’insertion socioprofessionnelle et à leur offrir des alternatives à la migration irrégulière et à l’adhésion aux groupes extrémistes violents.

Remotecoders: IT talents from the MENA Region

Remotecoders offers a solution to the geographic mismatch between ICT talents in North Africa and ICT jobs in Europe. Local vulnerable youth, women, refugees and migrants in North African countries are recruited, trained and connected to remote ICT work opportunities in Europe and local jobs. With this contribution, SDC is addressing the challenges of job creation, digitalization, migration and protection of vulnerable groups by testing an innovative partnership (Private Sector Engagement).

Rural Communities’ Disaster Risks and Climate Change Resilience

In the natural disasters prone environment of Kyrgyzstan, most vulnerable to such risks are the rural communities. In the frame of its Country Strategic Plans (CSP), the World Food Programme (WFP) strengthens their disaster risk and climate change resilience. The Swiss contribution to this intervention line/pillar of the CSP will magnify its impact via implementing a more comprehensive approach and increasing the number of direct beneficiaries.

Albania suffers from insufficient resources for public health emergencies and poor quality of primary care emergency services. The project aims at supporting the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and non-health actors to establish a sound coordination based on clear regulations and standards for health emergencies. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is the main humanitarian partner of Switzerland. The ICRC Climate and Environment Transition Fund is designed to support climate and environment initiatives in ICRC operations worldwide. This will happen around three pillars: The ICRC will adapt its programmes, improve environmental protection in armed conflict and reduce its environmental footprint. Switzerland supports ICRC’s climate and environment transition by contributing to the Fund set up for this purpose.

Avec ce projet, la Suisse complète avec la composante de protection l'approche de graduation qui vise à sortir des populations de la pauvreté extrême ainsi réduisant les risques, les menaces et les vulnérabilités des populations ciblées de manière holistique.

The fund will specifically focus on fragile and highly volatile areas in South Sudan.
