IPDET Grants: SDC Global Institutions Monitoring & Evaluation training support to multilateral organisations

The International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) is a globally recognised executive training initiative on development policy, programme and project evaluation. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) supports selected multilateral priority institutions to benefit from IPDET trainings to strengthen their evaluation capacity. To achieve this, about 17 IPDET grants are provided annually for three years to key staff members of these organisations.

Rural Water Supply Network (Core contribution)

Universal access to safe, affordable water is at the core of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the realisation of human rights. Achieving this in rural areas presents some particular challenges linked to poverty, discrimination and poor infrastructure. The Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN) is the only global network to offer powerful, effective mechanisms to share expertise and collaborate with local and global partners to trial and scale up innovation and to raise the quality and professionalism in rural water supplies.

Empowering and Decentralizing Local Government Institutions to Manage Hygiene, Sanitation and Water Supply Service Delivery in Hard-to-Reach Areas of Bangladesh

The Hygiene, Sanitation and Water Fund (HYSAWA) will focus on enhancing capacities of local government institutions and communities to plan and manage hygiene, sanitation and water supply service delivery in an effective, accountable, transparent and inclusive manner for men, women and disadvantaged persons. Citizens will benefit from improved public services which are better targeted at those people who need them the most.

Programme d’Appui à la décentralisation et à la Participation Citoyenne (DEPAC)

La DDC, à travers DEPAC, permet à 30 collectivités territoriales (CT) de développer des services dans les domaines de l’eau potable, l’éducation, les pistes rurales, répondant aux droits fondamentaux de 6,2 millions de Burkinabè. Le programme renforce aussi la contribution des associations et médias à l’efficacité des mécanismes de redevabilité locale. Face à la forte demande citoyenne, en particulier des jeunes, la phase 2 mettra l’accent sur la construction de la démocratie locale et la promotion économique.

COMUNDO – PC 2018

COMUNDO’s focus is on knowledge exchange between professionals working on a voluntary basis (PEZA) and local partner organisations (PO) with the objective of institutional and capacity development of the PO. It improves individual and collective competencies, organisational development and networks of the PO. The supported POs contribute to social inclusion and equal livelihood assets access/protection of vulnerable groups. In Switzerland COMUNDO sensitizes civil society (CS) and politic decision makers to responsible action and behaviour.

Enhance Balanced Education in Afghanistan (BALEDU)

The project works to improve the quality of teaching in Afghanistan. The rapid increase in enrolment numbers over the past fifteen years has led to a high demand for teachers which is not met. In rural areas, half of primary education teachers are underqualified, resulting in low learning achievements. The project engages Teacher Training Colleges and the competent line ministry to improve teacher’s subject-specific and methodological skills, so that children benefit from better education.

Entrepreneuriats Stratégiques Pour des Opportunités d’Investissements Renforcés (ESPOIR)

Ce programme contribue à l’émergence des microentreprises privées béninoises de jeunes et des Petites et Moyennes Entreprises (PME) agroalimentaires pour assurer une croissance économique durable, une augmentation d’emplois et de revenus, et une alimentation nutritive (sécurité alimentaire). Il porte l’espoir de toute une génération d’entrepreneurs, et permet de répondre en partie au défi démographique par la création d’emplois.

Mental Health Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The project supports the health authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to develop a sustainable system of community-based mental health care which provides quality services for persons with mental health problems and takes measures to reduce risks of development of such problems among the population. The respect of human rights and dignity of women and men with mental health disorders, their families and of those at risk of developing such disorders shall be improved as well as social inclusion and quality of life of these persons.

Programme d'Appui à la Promotion de l'Entreprenariat Agricole (PAPEA)

Au Burkina Faso, les entreprises agricoles sont peu développées et à prédominance informelles et individuelles. Les contraintes multiples, dont le faible accès aux services non financiers et financiers, réduisent leur productivité et créent moins de valeur ajoutée. S’appuyant sur l’expertise suisse en matière d’inclusion financière, la DDC soutiendra le secteur privé agricole (micro et petites entreprises) afin de créer des emplois décents pour les jeunes et des femmes et ainsi contribuer à réduire la pauvreté.

Promoting Water Stewardship 2030

Water stewardship fosters responsible private engagement in water. This programme aims at shaping the collaboration with the private sector for the benefit of society and natural resources. This SDC contribution will promote and institutionalize multi-stakeholder water dialogue by supporting several public-private partnership initiatives. It will facilitate exchange of knowledge leading to changes in practices and behaviours across sectors and stakeholders.

Creating Job OpportuniUes through lmproved Market Systems (IMS)

By increasing competitiveness of local private enterprises and enhancing labour market intermediation and skills development, this project contributes to improved employment and income-generation for women and men, benefiting in particular people from excluded groups. The project will contribute to retaining workforce in the country, which is crucial to Moldova's further development given the long-term trend of labour-related emigration.

Support for the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) 2018

The High-level Political Forum (HLPF) is the central platform of the follow-up and review process of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Switzerland will present a full-fledged report on its implementation of the Agenda at the HLPF in 2018. In the run up and during the HLPF, in addition to the presentation of the report, Switzerland will further strengthen and highlight its engagement to implement the Agenda, with emphasis on the availability of quality data and the robust participation of a broad range of stakeholders.
