SDC will continue, on one hand, supporting the implementation of the institutional strengthening plans in Valle and Cauca in order to guarantee the closing of processes that initiated during the phase 1. On the other hand, the scaling-up of the technical assistance model proposed by SABA will start in la Guajira, Boyacá, Antioquia and Nariño. This project aims to contribute to peacebuilding in rural territories though improving the quality of life of the rural population, through differential schemes that allow sustainable management for the provision of water and sanitation (W & S).

PIAL – “Proyecto para fortalecer un Sistema de Innovación Agropecuaria para el Desarrollo Local”

PIAL fomenta capacidades locales para gestionar los problemas de las cadenas agro-alimentarias en 75 municipios, contribuyendo al incremento de la disponibilidad de alimentos. Así, se institucionaliza y extiende en el país un Sistema de Innovación Agropecuaria Local (SIAL), con espacios y mecanismos para la participación de agricultores, autoridades y otros actores locales en la solución de estos problemas.

Programme d’appui à la décentralisation de l’éducation, PADE

Dans un contexte d’insécurité, où plusieurs écoles sont fermées au centre et au nord du Mali, offrir une éducation de base de qualité, équitable et inclusive pour tous, est l’objectif du programme d’appui à la décentralisation de l’éducation. Avec les collectivités, les services techniques et les communautés des régions de Mopti, Tombouctou et Sikasso, cette dernière phase du programme vise à consolider les acquis des phases précédentes et permettre à plus de 700'000 enfants d’accéder à l’école.

To answer the global challenge of improving access to safe water and adequate sanitation, essential for poverty reduction, health, economic development and a life in dignity, it is necessary to work at two levels: developing and using appropriate technology and techniques, but also working on the institutional frameworks and human capacities. To this aim, SDC has decided to partner with a Swiss Research Institute, long-term collaborator well recognised internationally.

INEE - soft earmarked contribution to Interagency Network for Education in Emergencies

Emergencies and protracted crises are a major barrier for the education of children and youth and a key factor for stalling progress to attain the education-SDG 4 of the Agenda 2030. The Interagency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) is the global lead in policy dialogue and practice for the right to education during crises. It is a multi-stakeholder body composed of UN-agencies, Donors, NGOs, Ministries of Education, Academia and represents 130 member-organizations in 190 countries. Through its engagement with INEE, Switzerland contributes to shape dialogue, capacity, knowledge for education in crises and for crisis-resilient education systems.

Inovagro Private Sector Led Rural Growth

Inovagro aims at increasing the incomes of poor farmers in Northern Mozambique, through ‘pro-poor’ private sector development. It improves farmers’ access to inputs and markets through local private, public and civil society partners. Phase III will consolidate the work of previous phases and focus on scale-up and replicability of successful interventions. There will also be a stronger focus on women inclusion, risk reduction, communication and knowledge sharing based on lessons learnt over the past years.

The Swiss contribution to the Special Voluntary Fund (SVF) will enable the United Nations Volunteers programme (UNV) to mobilize young people and to promote volunteerism among Member States and in the UN system.

Rural Water and Sanitation Support Programme in Kosovo

Since 2005, the Swiss Rural Water and Sanitation Support Programme has provided better access to safe drinking water and sanitation to 474’000 people living in rural areas. By further strengthening the capacities of the water companies and their oversight bodies and with targeted infrastructure investments, the RWSSP exit phase will contribute to a sustainable and socially inclusive provision of high-quality water and sanitation services. For the first time the program will include the Northern municipalities of Kosovo.

Decentralization and Local Development Program (dldp) in Albania

Selected municipalities in Northern Albania will be strengthened in managing local finances and improving their waste management process for offering better services to communities in enlarged territories. In the complex institutional and legal system and incomplete policy context for decentralisation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the two entity Associations of Municipalities and Cities (AMCs) are formally recognized as actors of decentralization, advocating for local governments (LGs). The project aims at enhancing AMCs’ capacities to actively support local governments in the provision of efficient services to their citizens, and to improve LGs role, status and position towards higher levels of government in BiH.
