Strengthening the resilience and reintegration of children formerly associated with armed groups and other conflict-affected children in north-east Nigeria

Millions of children suffer from the ongoing conflict in north-eastern Nigeria. Girls and boys are exposed to extreme levels of violence including the recruitment and use, sexual violence, killing and maiming. Many children have lost their families and friends and suffer from the harsh living conditions as a result of the conflict. The project will provide mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) as well as educational and socio-economic reintegration services to victims of violence, with a special focus on child recruits and survivors of sexual violence. It will also provide child protection services to the larger communities to strengthen their resilience and protection environment. The project will strengthen Switzerland’s overall positioning regarding the children and armed conflict thematic debate in the Lake Chad region.

Technical Assistance Facility for Sustainable Business Development in Agriculture

This publicly supported fund provides technical support (training, marketing, organization dev., business plans) to medium sized enterprises active in agriculture and food processing in several developing countries alongside with capital investments from private impact investors. Impact investors seek to generate a social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. The fund is a public private partnership that will trigger an estimated $30m in private capital and improve the output market for approx. 200k family farms.

Gobernanza del riesgo en Centroamérica

Centroamérica es vulnerable al cambio y la variabilidad climática así como a otras amenazas geológicas que ponen en riesgo la vida de alrededor de 19 millones de personas y su desarrollo económico. El proyecto promueve la gobernanza regional para mejorar la efectividad en la reducción de los desastres y la adaptación al cambio climático para contribuir al desarrollo resiliente. Improving Water Governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WGKP)

Water governance and water resource management are a critical development challenge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (KP) since 18% of the KP population (corresponding to 5.4 million people) remain without access to safe drinking water. In line with the National Water Policy framework and capitalizing on SDC’s experience in the sector, the project aims at strengthening provincial water institutions to enhance water policy development and water service delivery to vulnerable communities in KP.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is supporting EvalPartners and their sub-networks in developing Evaluation Capacity as a key pillar in good governance. The work of EvalPartners has helped to shape the international agenda for evaluation, encouraged the evaluation profession to take a more global approach in addressing world problems, and created a platform for evaluation capacity development. SDC supports the vision and mission of EvalPartners, and namely the two flagship programs for Strengthening National Evaluation Systems and the “Evidence Matters” campaign, with the key aim of increasing the capacity to evaluation the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Revitalising labour market in Moldova

With Moldova facing high unemployment and a slowdown in growth, the SDC is funding a project designed to offer young job seekers alternatives to emigration and to improve the country's economic situation. Switzerland is supporting reforms aimed at training a qualified workforce and improving the investment climate.
