Addressing Climate and El Niño-related Risks in Southeast Asia

Through an innovative partnership with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) and Geoneon, the SDC will support the creation of high-quality geospatial data products to support riskinformed and climate-smart decision-making in development cooperation and DRM in priority subnational areas in Lao PDR and Indonesia, contributing to and complementing efforts under the SERVIR Southeast Asia project implemented by ADPC and supported by USAID and NASA.
Impact-Linked Finance for Gender Equality & Clean Energy (ILF for GCE) with a Goal for systemic change

This project targets a substantial improvement in the lives of 40,000 low-income women by transforming and expanding clean energy business models. Simultaneously, it aims to instil a robust and systemic gender equality orientation within the impact investment industry. This will be achieved through the introduction of a first ever outcome payment fund for gender equality tied to a substantial investment fund, thereby creating tangible incentives for more gender-focused investments.

Switzerland has a fundamental interest in preventing corruption so that resources in partner countries flow in public services and sustainable development, and stolen assets are not deposited in Swiss financial institutions. Supporting the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) including a multilateral dialogue platform on asset return will ultimately lead to increased resources for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Sudan Conflict Affected-Populations Lifesaving Emergency Response (SCALE)

The conflict that broke out in Sudan on 15 April 2023 has led to a severe humanitarian crisis. Through the SCALE project, Mercy-Corps (MC) provides vulnerable conflict-affected and displaced individuals with Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) as well as food security and livelihoods support to meet their basic needs and enhance their coping capacities. SCALE adopts a nexus approach, leveraging MCs existing development and peacebuilding programming. Working alongside local partners, the project aims to amplify the voices of conflict-affected women and demonstrate the power of collective influence and action to address priority needs.

Zürcher Theater Spektakel – phasing out 2024 - 2025

The largest theatre festival of Switzerland, the Zürcher Theater Spektakel (ZTS) integrates the works of performers and theatre directors from the Southern and Eastern developing countries (S/E) into its yearly programmes, competitions and networks. SDC’s contribution allows specific efforts regarding research, pre-production works or co-productions and translations to make sure the artists get visibility, skills, networks, to benefit the cultural scene of their countries of origin.

This will be done by bridging the unmet gaps to secure appropriate non-development financing, institutionalising impact investing and setting a blueprint for regional replication.

The military coup in February 2021 and the escalating violence and conflict increased poverty and food insecurity among vulnerable populations, and decreased livelihood opportunities and agricultural production. The LIFT Strategy 2024-2028 tackles Myanmar’s food security and poverty crisis and aims to strengthen the resilience and the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable groups to withstand climate and other shocks. Switzerland adds value through its extensive experience in steering multi-donor funds, thematic expertise and its nexus expertise.
Myanmar - Access to Health Fund

Myanmar has seen very low levels of basic health services due to seven decades long conflict. The progresses achieved during the last civilian government were reversed by the military coup in 2021, leading to a nearly collapse of the national health system and an increase of humanitarian needs. Through the Access to Health Fund, Switzerland supports the provision of equitable and critical health services to vulnerable people in conflict-affected areas through the strengthening on ethnic and community health systems.

AQH strengthens the clinical capacity and managerial competence of Primary Health Care (PHC) providers towards improving the quality of care provided to the population, focusing on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). At the community end, AQH generates demand for quality services, by improving health literacy and involving people in shaping the services, thus leading to an increased and rational utilization of all health services and ultimately improved health status of the population.
