Applying the triple nexus approach, the project aims at creating an enabling environment to build resilience, foster economic development and social cohesion among the conflict affected communities of Cabo Delgado province through the improvement of essential services (energy, water); support of economic development (capacity building, income generation); peacebuilding and conflict mitigation through social cohesion activities between internally displaced population and Host Communities.

Multi-sectoral assistance to flood-affected populations in Nigeria

Flooding in Nigeria has impacted more than 3 million people across 34 of the country’s 36 states, in the worst floods since 2012. Over 600 deaths have been recorded, with 2,500 injured and 1.5 million people displaced. Homes and farmlands are being damaged and water sources contaminated, increasing the risk of malnutrition and water-borne diseases. SDC’s funding to IFRC will reach flood affected people with lifesaving multi-sectoral assistance to meet their immediate basic needs.

Sri Lanka WFP Building resilience against recurrent natural shocks through the diversification of livelihoods

In 2022 Sri Lanka faced a severe economic crisis affecting all, but especially rural communities and small holder farmers. Switzerland has a migration partnership with Sri Lanka, and has therefore a special interest to support the population. With this proposal, Switzerland contributes to a multi-year resilience and early recovery programme of the World Food Programme, and fills a critical short term funding gap between two phases. The support enables farmers to diversify their livelihoods.

Appui à la Fédération Nationale des Communes Tunisiennes et mise en place du Fonds Municipal de Compétence Générale

Le projet vise à appuyer le processus de décentralisation en Tunisie en renforçant le rôle de la Fédération Nationale des Communes Tunisiennes (FNCT) en tant qu’acteur de soutien aux communes et de plaidoyer politique pour la décentralisation. Dans le cadre de ce projet, la FNCT va appuyer techniquement et financièrement 17 communes pilotes dans la mise en œuvre de leurs plans de développement locaux. Il s’agit d’une contribution à un projet financé par l’Union Européenne.

PMA: Asistencia alimentaria en Cauca. Fortalecimiento de soberanía y autonomía alimentaria del pueblo Nasa

Debido al conflicto armado prolongado, las comunidades indígenas del departamento del Cauca permanecen en situación de vulnerabilidad y crisis de seguridad alimentaria. La situación se ha agravado por los desafíos internos para consolidar la paz, así como por el impacto del cambio climático, los efectos de la pandemia del COVID-19 y, más recientemente, los efectos de la crisis de Ucrania.

En este escenario, la COSUDE apoya al Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) con recursos adicionales para complementar sus acciones de recuperación temprana a favor de las comunidades vulnerables, bajo el principio de salvar vidas, favorecer los procesos de recuperación y fortalecer sus medios de subsistencia, mejorando así la seguridad alimentaria.

DEPAC 3 - Programme d’appui à la décentralisation et à la participation citoyenne

La Suisse promeut la décentralisation au niveau national et appuie les collectivités territoriales de quatre régions du Burkina Faso. Dans un contexte marqué par une insécurité croissante, elle renforce leur capacité à faire face aux urgences, à développer la cohésion sociale et la participation citoyenne et à offrir des services de base de qualité aux populations. Ce programme de type nexus contribue à prévenir l’extrémisme violent et à stabiliser le pays, dans l’intérêt de la Suisse.

Short term Skills dev. youth/women Ph.1

The project addresses the needs of youth who already graduated from their formal education, but still miss adequate skills for employment. These needs should be matched by demand of private sector. There will be established and institutionalized an effective up/reskilling mechanism nation-wide non-formal Vocational Education Training system in the country. Thus, skilled workforce will successfully support both (future) workers and Micro-, Small- and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Nonviolent Peaceforce: Community-based Protection and Peacebuilding

The project will contribute to overall peace and security of targeted communities by addressing key civilian safety and security concerns, including child protection, intra-inter-communal violence, SGBV, women’s protection and empowerment, youth participation, community participation and general protection and peacebuilding. Interventions will focus on trust building and inclusion, enhancing capacities of existing community-based protection mechanisms including Women protection Teams and Youth Protection Teams, and Peace Committees, and restoring confidence in peaceful relations at community levels.

Sri Lanka: Skills for Sustainable Growth

The current crisis in Sri Lanka is strongly affecting the country’s population. Switzerland and Sri Lanka have a migration partnership. Therefore, Switzerland has a strong interest in supporting skills development in the country. This project will train the Sri Lankan Vocational Training Authority to deliver an international standard curriculum in the hospitality sector to its students, combined with practical learning in hotels. Hence, the students will have better access to employment opportunities.

Provide lifesaving humanitarian aid to flood affected people in Chad

28.10.2022 - 31.03.2023

En réponse à la situation d'urgence après les inondation au Tchad, la Suisse met à disposition une somme de 300'000 CHF. Cela permet à l'UNHCR la mise à disposition de 300 tentes et ainsi à 1'800 victimes des inondations de passer les prochains mois dans des abris décents, en attendant que leurs logements d'origine soient de nouveau habitables.

PROFET - Programa de Fortalecimiento de la Educación Técnica y Profesional en Cuba

PROFET favorece el acceso a empleo de los jóvenes, con énfasis en mujeres y grupos en desventaja, elevando la calidad de la formación en seis especialidades de la educación técnica profesional (construcción, agricultura, turismo, comunicación, mecánica y transporte) a través de la modernización de tecnologías y programas de enseñanza práctica y el fortalecimiento de los vínculos entre las instituciones educativas y el sector productivo.

UNICEF: Strengthening Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism to prevent and respond to grave violations against children in Yemen

Accountability for grave child rights’ violations in Yemen will be strengthened through the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism on Children and Armed Conflict. Support will be provided for the collection, analysis and reporting on grave violations against children and the use of evidence and data for advocacy. Additionally, implementation of the Action plans signed by two parties to the conflict will be supported.
