Cambodian Horticulture Project Advancing Income and Nutrition (CHAIN)

The Cambodian Horticulture Advancing Income and Nutrition (CHAIN) programme is implemented by SNV and aims to develop and strengthen horticulture value chains in close collaboration with public and private sector actors in four least-developed provinces in the northeast of Cambodia. The SDC mandated programme supports poor, smallholder women and men farmers to increase their productivity and income and to improve food security, nutrition and climate resilience.

Committee dual Vocational Education Training (DC dVET) and specific thematic support in Switzerland (FoBBIZ)

The dual vocational education training (VET) system has long tradition in German-speaking countries, contributing to employment and income. Thus, its adaptation in development contexts is often complex and challenging. By fostering networks between donor agencies working on dual VET and tapping into the experience of the Swiss VET-community, the exchange of best practices and usage of synergies will improve VET projects in partner countries and lead to a better international positioning of the dual VET approaches.

Improving quality of pre-hospital and hospital emergency services

CABI Plantwise Programme

Plantwise is a global programme led by CABI to increase food security and improve rural livelihoods by reducing crop losses. Local plant clinics provide farmers with practical plant health advice, reinforced by the Plantwise knowledge bank, an online gateway to plant health information. Plantwise strengthens national plant health systems from within, enabling countries to provide farmers with the knowledge they need to lose less. Plantwise aims at reaching over 30 million farmers in up to 34 countries by the end of 2020.

Scaling up Nutrition Pooled Fund (SUN – Pooled Fund)

Sound nutrition relevant policies and strategies are a prerequisite to eliminate hunger and malnutrition. The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement brings together governments, civil society, donors, UN agencies, researchers and private sector actors to collaborate in support of countries to combat malnutrition. SDC participates in the SUN Pooled-Fund, which strengthens civil society engagement and multi-stakeholder platforms in the fight against malnutrition in the SUN countries.

Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Gender Equitable Attitudes among Young Men and Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Attitudes and behaviors of the current generation of young people in BiH are still shaped by patriarchal values, which influence the lifestyles of boys and girls and their respective vulnerability to health risks. Young men are more inclined to engage in harmful and dangerous activities and are much more likely to use violence - against women and peers - than women. The proposed intervention will promote healthier lifestyles and challenge existing gender stereotypes by working with young men, as well as women, in schools and local communities.

Livestock Development expanding from South to North in the South Caucasus

Livestock farming is the main economic activity for most poor households in rural areas of Armenia and Georgia. Through better access to services, inputs and markets, as well as effective management of natural resources, farmers in Armenia are expected to substantially improve their livelihood. Strengthening regional links and access to regional markets of animal and animal products will also make the livestock sector more profitable and increase its competitiveness, hereby contributing to higher incomes and employment for farmers in rural Armenia and Georgia.

Global Energy Efficiency and Construction Outreach Programme (GLECOP)

GLECOP contributes to low-emission, energy-efficient and resilient development at a global scale. It supports two multilateral initiatives, the Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies (E4) Programme implemented by the International Energy Agency and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction. Through its support, Switzerland aims to enhance knowledge and capacities, to leverage successful practices and to strengthen policies on energy efficiency with a focus on the construction sector.

Facility for Refugees, Migrants, Forced Displacement and Rural Stability (IFAD)

01.12.2017 - 31.12.2023

Switzerland is committed at the highest political level to help countries in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region coping with the refugee crisis. By co-financing two projects funded by IFAD (the International Fund for Agricultural Development) in Jordan and Lebanon, SDC will contribute to create sustainable livelihoods for thousands of Syrian refugees, and will also support host communities to increase their income and food security by improving the quality of their small ruminants and cattle, as well as their value in the market.

IRQ Tdh WASH, Child Protection and Education response to address immediate post-conflict needs of the population in Tal Afar district

Through SDC’s support, this project implemented by Terre des hommes addresses the immediate WASH, education and child protection concerns of conflict-affected populations in the district of Tal Afar. The project includes the rehabilitation of water and sanitation infrastructure, the provision of child protection services, the light rehabilitation of three schools and the training of teachers in contact with conflict-affected children.

Strengthening the resilience and reintegration of children formerly associated with armed groups and other conflict-affected children in north-east Nigeria

Millions of children suffer from the ongoing conflict in north-eastern Nigeria. Girls and boys are exposed to extreme levels of violence including the recruitment and use, sexual violence, killing and maiming. Many children have lost their families and friends and suffer from the harsh living conditions as a result of the conflict. The project will provide mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) as well as educational and socio-economic reintegration services to victims of violence, with a special focus on child recruits and survivors of sexual violence. It will also provide child protection services to the larger communities to strengthen their resilience and protection environment. The project will strengthen Switzerland’s overall positioning regarding the children and armed conflict thematic debate in the Lake Chad region.
