Global Water Security and Sanitation Partnership to achieve a water-secure world for all

The Global Water Security and Sanitation Partnership (GWSP) of the World Bank Water Global Practice is a global partnership with the objective to address the water and sanitation challenge in an integrated manner, as set out in the global water goal (SDG 6). This SDC support will advance innovative global knowledge production and exchange as well as building capacity through country-level support across regions with a focus on the population excluded most from water investments and services.

Contribution to the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)

The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) is a regional intergovernmental learning and knowledge sharing centre serving its member countries of the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region. The SDC support will contribute to climate resilient and inclusive development of vulnerable mountain communities through strengthening ICIMOD’s regional role and capacity in climate science and relevance in regional policy dialogue.

PRADEF - Programme Régional d’Appui à la Décentralisation Financière en Afrique de l’Ouest

La décentralisation financière permet aux collectivités locales de disposer de moyens pour délivrer des services de qualité aux populations. Or actuellement, en Afrique de l’Ouest, celles-ci reçoivent à peine 5% du budget des Etats. Partant de ce constat et fort de son expérience dans les pays prioritaires en Afrique de l’Ouest, la Suisse s’engagera pour un accroissement du taux de transfert à travers un appui au plaidoyer régional et la diffusion des meilleures pratiques.

By deploying a mix of aid modalities SDC will address the needs of 2,615,064 people severely affected by Hurricane Irma in the 22 most affected municipalities. The Humanitarian Aid will support the immediate response with delivery of food assistance through the WFP. The South Cooperation will support early recovery by strengthening production of local construction material and capacities through the PNUD.

Management for Development Results (MfDR), Evaluation and Results Management Support to Multilateral Organisations

There is a demand that the United Nations Development System (UNDS) is capable to measure its results in supporting partner countries to implement the 2030 Agenda. This contribution will help to strengthen the evaluation function of the UNDS as a whole as well as of selected partners of the UN system, particularly UNFPA. The intervention will in addition build national evaluation capacity via the EvalPartners Network that was set up by the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG).

Strengthening the Climate Adaptation Capacities in the South Caucasus

The project will (i) facilitate the development of multi-hazard mapping and risk assessment methodology enabling 1.7 million inhabitants’ reduced exposure towards climate-induced hazards in Georgia; (ii) contribute to the safer livelihoods and infrastructure of 373’800 residents in ten municipalities by developing response and preparedness plans; and (iii) foster evidence-based policymaking and advocacy on climate adaptation, natural hazards and mountain development in the South Caucasus.

L’intervention, en contribuant à la paix et la stabilité dans le pays et la région, répond aux intérêts de la Suisse.
