Albania: Leave No One Behind

320'000 marginalised and vulnerable population of Albania, primarily Roma and people with disabilities, will benefit from improved social services. Currently, the needs of these people are not met by the social protection system. The project supports the implementation at municipal level of the national policy framework developed with Swiss support. So, the entire population will benefit from equal and dignified access to services and resources.

Emergency support to IRC integrating GBV services, Protection and Health for conflict-affected communities in Rakhine State, Myanmar

This project will allow IRC to provide protection, GBV and health services to respond to identified urgent needs of conflict-affected communities in Rathedaung in Rakhine State, Myanmar, through a 7 months integrated protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and health response. Both, Muslim and Rakhine communities will benefit from the outcomes of this project.

SDC Contribution to DCAF for an expert of the Latin America/Caribbean Region 2017-2020

SDC has a strategic partnership with DCAF since 2011 with a core contribution of yearly around CHF 11 million. DCAF works on the interface between security and development policy, a domain of increasing importance for SDC. The expert offered by SDC will focus on developing DCAF’s relationship and cooperation with current and future donors and on building up a Latin America and Caribbean division (LAC), where the fragility of states, governance of security institutions and violence in general is a key challenge for development.

Migliorare la sicurezza per la popolazione croata nel-le zone contaminate dalle mine

Le mine e altri residuati bellici esplosivi sono una pericolosa eredità della guerra in Croazia del 1991-1996 e pregiudicano ancora oggi la sicurezza della popolazione locale. L’integrazione economica e sociale delle vittime delle mine costituisce una sfida per la società. Nel quadro del contributo svizzero all’allargamento la Svizzera versa tre milioni CHF per sostenere misure volte a rimuovere le mine e a migliorare la situazione delle vittime e delle loro famiglie. La qualità di vita della popolazione che vive nelle regioni contaminate dalle mine ne trae così un grande beneficio.

World Water Forum 2018

Les Forums Mondiaux de l’Eau (organisés tous les 3 ans depuis 1997) sont les principaux événements internationaux sur la question de l'eau en offrant aux politiques et aux décideurs concernés le seul espace international de débat et de contributions d'experts. La Suisse est reconnue comme incontournable dans ces forums et jouera un rôle de premier plan en portant des solutions concrètes et en influençant le dialogue politique global notamment sur la question de la nouvelle architecture de l’eau au sein des Nations Unies.

Social inclusion and improvement of living conditions for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians and other vulnerable groups in Kosovo

In order to improve the social inclusion of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians (RAE) in Kosovo, the single phase project will develop their livelihoods through ensuring better access to educational opportunities, enhanced children rights and protection, upgraded housing conditions and more income generation prospects. The project will complement these grassroots activities with policy interventions, in the education and child protection components, to ensure ownership and sustainability through institutionalization.

Albania: Bashki te Forta (Strong Municipalities)

Municipal administrations in all 61 municipalities in Albania will be supported to effectively manage service delivery based on the citizens’ needs. Municipal councils will be enabled to better represent citizens’ interests and ensure that public resources are well managed. Setting up a reliable and up-to-date local statistical system will allow an informed decision making. Through these improvements, citizens will benefit from better services such as waste and pre-school education and will actively be involved in local issues.

CAR: WFP UNHAS

In view of large humanitarian needs in the country, humanitarian air transport service for aid community is crucial; WFP CAR is the only viable transport option available to reach remote areas safely, besides complementary air services provided by MSF and ICRC, mainly for their own staff. UNHAS facilitates and secures the majority of travel of SDC staff and partners, to enable them to monitor contributions and implement projects. To maintain this service, UNHAS requires the support of technical and financial partners.

Support to the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF)

The Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) managed by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) provides flexible funding for life-saving interventions in Ethiopia. The consecutive underperformance of the past rainy seasons, compounded by a severe AWD/cholera outbreak, has led to a deep humanitarian crisis affecting Ethiopia’s southern pastoral areas. Switzerland’s contribution to the EHF will allow for a rapid and needs-based response.
