Oxfam - Reducing Water and Sanitation Related Diseases through Access to WASH Practices for Conflict Affected Populations in Sa’da Governorate

The project is designed to sustain and expand access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) practices through the reconstruction of war damaged water supply facilities, the rehabilitation or construction of school latrines and training on maintenance on them as well as the provision of hygiene promotion activities to the most vulnerable girls, boys, women and men affected by protracted conflict and malnutrition in the northern Sahar District in Sa’da Governorate of Yemen, in order to reduce the incidence of water and sanitation related diseases. The project also aims to contribute to the empowerment of women and children through shortened distances to the dwellings as well as the promotion of hygiene aspects and the access to safe sanitation.

Platforms for Agricultural Research for Development

An improved participation of all agricultural stakeholders in research, innovation and development discussions is crucial for finding solutions to feed the 9 billion people in 2050. Therefore, two networks are supported to facilitate exchange of information and experience among agricultural stakeholders. One network addresses the youth in agricultural development worldwide with already 7200 members, and the other one Swiss actors in agricultural research for development.

Le Fonds Fiduciaire «Fragility and Conflict Partnership» améliore la collaboration entre la Banque Mondiale et les Nations Unies par le biais de projets concrets et d’initiatives institutionnelles, permettant ainsi de démontrer la valeur ajoutée d’une meilleure coopération entre ces deux institutions. Le Fonds contribue à améliorer l’efficacité de l’aide internationale dans les pays dits fragiles.

Institutional Support to Standing Conferenceof Towns and Municipalities

Serbia remains fairly centralized while local governments have limited capacities. Division of tasks, responsibilities and competencies between municipalities and central state is important. The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), association of local governments in Serbia, strives to overcome gaps between central and local level. SDC supports SCTM advocacy department to represent municipalities before the central government and support its members to implement policies and regulations.

Advancing Land Use Rights and Natural Resources Benefits

Approved in 2009, the Mozambican legislation on land, forestry and fauna is considered as one of the most progressive in terms of protection of the interests of the local communities. However more than 14 years after its approval, the rights of the communities are still precarious. SDC program aims at advancing the land use rights of the local communities as a necessary asset for a more sustainable economic development.

Municipal Development in South and SouthWest Serbia - European PROGRES

The European Partnership with Municipalities Program funded by Switzerland, the EU and Serbia supports 34 underdeveloped municipalities in South and South West Serbia. The Program addresses municipal capacities to plan for development, attract investments and improves service delivery for 1 million citizens and the private sector in line with good governance pnnciples. It also contributes to enhanced multi-ethnic dialogue and improved cooperation between central and local governments.

Contribution à l’organisation internationale de la Francophonie OIF

La Francophonie est une organisation politique au sein de laquelle de petits pays, particulièrement d’Afrique francophone peuvent faire entendre leur voix dans le concert des nations. A travers ses opérateurs spécialisés elle soutient également ses pays membres dans leurs efforts de développement. Avec une contribution volontaire centrée sur l’éducation de base et le développement durable, la DDC crée des synergies avec ses programmes et augmente son impact auprès des jeunes.

Da gennaio ad agosto 2014, nella fase di transizione che va dall'aiuto di emergenza e alla ricostruzione a lungo termine, la DSC ha attuato nelle Filippine diversi progetti. Le priorità dell'aiuto umanitario della Confederazione si sono concentrate sulla riabilitazione e la ristrutturazione nonché sul trattamento dell'acqua potabile e sull'igiene (WASH). In tutto sono state aiutate concretamente 33 000 persone, tra cui più di 2700 studenti.

The CHF is a multi-donor pooled fund, managed under the direction of the Humanitarian Coordinator (HC). The fund finances projects of UN agencies, international and national non-governmental organizations. The CHF is used for timely allocation and disbursement of donor resources to the most urgent humanitarian needs and critical gaps in Sudan. The CHF meaningfully strengthens the response capacity and fosters at the same time greater sectoral responsibility and accountability – it has an important role in the current situation.

Water scarcity and declining water quality are a problem in almost all countries. More comprehensive information on their current status and trends would enable Member States to better make evidence-based development decisions for sustainable development, management and use of sanitation and water resources. The 6th Sustainable Development Goal of the 2030 Agendawill provide a unique opportunity to address the multiple and growing challenges associated with sustainable water and sanitation. This includes the need for a coherent and holistic monitoring framework with improved data acquisition and the analysis to track progress.

Regional and Municipal Infrastructure Development in Georgia

The project will increase human and institutional capacities of all municipalities in Georgia (except the capital city Tbilisi). lt will enable them to perform independently the core three functions for decentralised delivery of basic infrastructure services, i. e. Project Cycle Management, Financial Management and Asset Management. Such a decentralized System will enable the Government to better respond to population needs at local level.
