SDC and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) are offering a new long-term funding scheme for development-relevant research on global issues (www.r4d.ch). The main focus lies on the generation of new insights and solutions as well as on the application of research results into policy and practice through partnership projects between researchers from Switzerland and from developing countries. The overall r4d.ch program consists of five thematic modules and a module for thematically open research. The first thematic module focuses on the causes and solutions to social conflicts in the context of weak public institutions.

The overall goal of the programme is to generate social inclusion through economic activities and entrepreneurship and stimulate an active participation of Roma in the formal economic life.

The Thematic Fund "Inclusion of Roma and other Vulnerable Groups" shall contribute to improve the living conditions of Roma and other vulnerable minorities in a number of communities as well as contribute to the empowerment and awareness building in order to foster the social inclusion of the same groups.

Social Inclusion and Improvement of living conditions of Roma and other vulnerable groups in Mures, Cluj and Bihor

The overall goal of the project is to improve the living condition and the social inclusion of the Roma communities and other vulnerable minorities in the project region Mures, Cluj and Bihor. The project intends to apply a combination of different interventions in the following fields of education, health, social assistance and vocational education.

Implementación de estrategias para la gestión local del hábitat a escala municipal

El programa se orienta al mejoramiento de la situación de vivienda y hábitat en 10 municipios cubanos a través de la generación de capacidades en los gobiernos locales para la formulación e implementación de estrategias de hábitat descentralizadas, sensibles al género y a la equidad social. Como parte de la intervención se ejecutan acciones concretas que articulan al sector público y a los pequeños productores privados y cooperativos dedicados a la producción de materiales y a la construcción y se crean servicios de apoyo a la población para mejorar su acceso a vivienda y entorno adecuados.
