Transforming the Charcoal Sector

The project builds cases on district levels that formalize and regulate a sustainable, energy efficient charcoal value chain, increase incomes of the charcoal producers, generate revenues to the villages for the benefit of the whole community and ensure that the Village Forest Reserves are maintained and harvested sustainably. The promotion of the piloted system is to result in increased resilience to climate change and a reduced rate of deforestation.

Prevenzione e gestione delle inondazioni lungo il Tibisco

In Ungheria la Svizzera finanzia due progetti volti a contenere le inondazioni del fiume Tibisco (in ungherese «Tisza») o quanto meno a ridurne le conseguenze più gravi. Il primo progetto raccoglie i dati che serviranno ad allestire e aggiornare i piani di emergenza in caso di allagamenti. Il secondo dovrebbe portare alla creazione di un sistema di informazione e comunicazione in grado di contenere le conseguenze negative delle inondazioni.

Training System for Professional Staff of the Judiciary

SDC's Global Programme on Climate Change recognises that the shift towards a low carbon development model requires the promotion of clear energy systems based on renewable'energy. The use of decentralised energy systems based on biomass gasification technology offer one such opportunity. Relevance of intervention; Rural areas in India suffer from lack of quality electncity supply. Decentralised power generation is promoted through all the programmes of Govt of India, Many small industries in India and remote infrastructure establishment such as communication towers are exploring energy solutions that are based on renewable energy resources. The use of biomass gasification technology for heat and power applications is an area of growing relevance. The Govt of India's mission to Green India acknowledges the role of forests in providing livelihoods to local communities and also their role in protecting the forest resource This offers a new opportunity to organise the biomass supply for clean energy use in a sustainable manner.
