OCHA Interagency Protection / Gender / PSEA Project 2024-2025

Switzerland provides a contribution to the inter-agency Protection Standby Capacity (ProCap), the Gender Standby Capacity (GenCap) and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Standby Capacity (PSEACap). They deploy Senior Protection Advisers to humanitarian field operations, as well as at the global and regional levels. Switzerland will strengthen the capacity of the humanitarian system to deliver better protection, gender equality and PSEA by providing strategic and technical advice to the Humanitarian Country Teams (HCTs) around the world.

Le Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) est un cadre statistique visant à garantir un système cohérent, comparable et harmonisé pour suivre les investissements liés aux objectifs du développement durable (ODD). Le standard est supervisé par le Forum international sur le TOSSD (IFT). La Suisse notifie ses données au TOSSD depuis 2019. En tant que membre de l’IFT, elle contribue au développement conceptuel et stratégique de la mesure.
Social Water Entrepreneurship - Catalyzing Impact with Innovative Finance

Innovative collaboration with the private sector is needed to achieve SDG 6. This program – implemented by Aqua for All and co-financed by the Dutch government - enhances access to private capital for high impact small and medium sized enterprises (SME) in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene, facilitating sustainable water and sanitation services in Least Developed and Lower-Middle Income Countries through two key innovative finance instruments: Impact-Linked Financing to SMEs and Impact Finance first loss investments in structured funds investing in water SMEs.

WFP Country Strategic Plan 2024 Malawi - Allocation of SDC Funding to El Nino Response

Against historic levels of food insecurity due to conflicts, climate change and COVID-19, Switzerland annually supports about 40 SDC priority countries operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. It funds WFP Country Strategy Plans, incorporating all programmes or projects, based on affected population needs and potential synergies with other local partners, especially national governments and civil society.
Decentralisation for inclusive development

Mozambique implements the decentralization reform as agreed in the Maputo Peace Agreement brokered by Switzerland in 2018. Considering political power sharing highly relevant for the country’s stability, the programme supports the effective implementation of the decentralisation’s policies and reforms. The interventions aim to improve the quality of basic services delivered by local governments in Niassa and Nampula provinces, and to enhance accountability, transparency, inclusion and equity in the local decision-making processes through civic participation.
Lebanon Direct Action - Bekaa Water Management Programme (BWMP)

Chad, MSF Emerg. Resp. SUD Crisis 2024

This contribution aims to support MSF’s emergency response to the needs of refugees and returnees having fled the war in Sudan as well as host communities in Eastern Chad. By ensuring access to quality healthcare and providing water and sanitation services for refugees as well as host communities in Adré and at Aboutengué/Ourang camp, MSF contributes to reducing illness and mortality rates among the conflict-affected people and improve their living conditions.

The war in Sudan entered its second year. Sudan is facing a major humanitarian catastrophe. The conflict also affected neighbouring countries, in particular Chad and South Sudan who are already struggling with a dire humanitarian situation that pre-existed before the conflict broke out. The consequences of the war exacerbated the acute food insecurity situation in those countries. With additional funding, SDC reinforces WFP’s emergency response to deliver life-saving food and nutrition assistance in Sudan, Chad and South Sudan.
Ukraine, Contribution UNHCR 2024-26

Humanitarian needs in Ukraine remain high, particularly affecting the internally displaced and vulnerable populations. Promoting respect for human rights is a Swiss foreign policy goal and a pillar of its international cooperation, as the denial of human rights is one of the main factors of poverty.
