Multi-purpose Cash Assistance to earthquake affected households in four districts of Paktika and Khost provinces

On June 2022 a severe earthquake caused wide-scale destruction in southern-eastern Afghanistan, leaving 362'000 people in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. By supporting the multi-purpose cash distribution's project of The Liason Office, a partner who is already active in the said region, Switzerland contributes to emergency response and to the recovery of the affected population.

Moldova: Strengthening capacities to address emergency health care services of hospitals in case of mass casualties due to an increased influx of refugees

01.09.2022 - 31.12.2023

As part of the national health contingency planning and following the capacity building efforts of the project, emergency departments of four hospitals will be equipped with necessary medical devices to improve the quality of medical services in the event of a major influx of Ukrainian refugees or mass casualties. With enhanced preparedness of emergency health services Switzerland makes a contribution to strengthening and sustaining of local capacities. That is in line with Swiss interest of supporting local health service providers.

Ukraine East Europe Foundation (EEF) - Building capacity of local CSOs to provide protection services to women and minorities

Women and minorities in Ukraine are more vulnerable to GBV due to the conflict, and at the same time the state's protection services are overwhelmed and understaffed. The goal is to strengthen the protection mechanisms by funding 15 women's rights and LGBTQI+ and Roma organisations, who will enhance the protection both at individual and systemic levels. East Europe Foundation will manage the grants and provide capacity building to make these organisations more sustainable.

L’économie béninoise est caractérisée par une faiblesse du secteur privé et un marché d’emploi restreint pour les jeunes et les femmes. ESPOIR continuera à augmenter les opportunités économiques sur le territoire national et forgera un environnement propice à la croissance durable des entreprises. ESPOIR soutient la dynamisation de l’économie rurale avec un accent sur la valorisation des ressources locales et participe de par son focus sur le nord à la réduction de la fragilité multidimensionnelle.

Ukraine Rehabilitation & Winterization

As contribution to the Danish Refugee Council’s activities in the war-hit Chernihiv region under the “Winterization shelter emergency response in northern Ukraine”-Programme, the project is focusing on repairing damaged houses, apartments and public infrastructure. The project is coordinated by Chernihiv authorities and is complementing projects in the domains of psycho-social support, demining activities, non-food relief items distribution and multi-purpose cash assistance.


ETH IOM Phase II Durable Solutions 2022-2026

Through enhanced community-based planning and a whole-of-society approach, Switzerland aims to contribute to the protection, socio-economic recovery, and peaceful co-existence of Displacement Affected Communities (DACs) in the Somali Region (SR). Three UN agencies will collaborate on the implementation. This project supports the new SR Durable Solutions (DS) Strategy and is consistent with the Government of Ethiopia's Strategic Plan to Address Internal Displacement.

Ukraine: People In Need (PIN) Improving access to protection for vulnerable conflict-affected persons in Ukraine

People in Need (PIN) provides high-proximity social protection services to vulnerable populations affected by the war in Ukraine, with a focus on the areas with most internally displaced: Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Volyn, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Kropyvnytskyi, Sumy, Rivne, and Ternopil. These services are delivered by mobile teams and will include psychological support and cash for protection for people with special needs. PIN will also build the capacity of over 30 local civil society organization (CSO) partners.


Ukraine: Right to Protection (R2P) Mobile humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected population of Chernihiv and Sumy regions

The leading local protection NGO, R2P will provide protection assistance to the conflict-affected population of Chernihiv and Sumy regions in Ukraine. Mobile protection teams deliver primary health care consultations, registration and legal counseling services, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). This project will strengthen R2P by empowering it to execute its own strategies and no longer be just an implementing partner of the international agencies.

Mozambique Edu Oficina de Arte

Through this Education in Emergency (EiE) program, Switzerland will support remedial and catch up classes and trainings on inclusive education for vulnerable boys and girls in Cabo Delgado for them to catch up with gaps in their education path and benefit from a safe, protective and inclusive educational environment. Conflict and disaster risk reduction and prevention will be included to improve social cohesion.

Contribution to project "Strengthening the Capacity of Civil Society to Ensure the Protection of Women at Risk and Survivors of Domestic Violence in Uzbekistan"

The project aims at improving the protection of women and victims of Gender Based Violence in Uzbekistan by strengthening the role of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) to influence national policy and legislation, to raise awareness about domestic gender-based violence, and to provide more effective support services to women victims of violence. The Project is part of a Central Asia project implemented by the International NGO ACTED.

Bangladesh Health Project in Bhasan Char

01.09.2022 - 31.08.2024

Within the objective of the Government of Bangladesh to relocate up to 100’000 Rohingya refugees to Bhasan Char, the provision of health services was also set-up. The project scales-up these health services thus reducing complicated referrals by sea and land to the Noakhali district hospital. This project allows Switzerland to follow the situation on Bhasan Char by supporting Friendship which will continue to provide health services on the island to improve the health status of the refugees.
